BMS VS. SBMS RIVALRY GAME
Belton Middle School brought the heat to their rivalry game at BHS, turning the night into a true showcase of Lady Tiger pride. The stands were packed, the energy was high, and from the first serve it was clear that BMS came ready to leave their mark.
The 7th grade Lady Tigers stole the show, pulling out a commanding victory that had the crowd roaring. Their chemistry on the court was unmatched — sharp serves, clean passes, and powerful hits that left South Belton scrambling to keep up. Each set highlighted just how far these athletes have come this season, playing not just with skill but with heart and trust in one another. Their relentless drive made this rivalry game a statement: the Lady Tigers of BMS are a force to be reckoned with.
The 8th grade team faced a tougher challenge but proved they were not going down without a fight. They battled through every point, refusing to let the game slip away easily. From diving saves to well-placed attacks, the girls showed determination and resilience, keeping fans engaged until the very last serve. Even though the win was not theirs, their effort and grit displayed the spirit of the BMS Lady Tigers.
By the end of the night, Belton Middle School had set the tone for what it means to wear the Lady Tiger uniform. With the 7th graders celebrating a huge rivalry win and the 8th graders proving their toughness on the court, the program as a whole walked away with heads held high.
8A: In an exciting showdown between cross-town rivals, the Belton Middle School Tigers faced off against the South Belton Tigers in a hard-fought volleyball match that came down to the wire. Despite a strong start and incredible effort on the court, Belton fell short in the third set, closing out the match with a narrow loss. The game was packed with intensity, energy, and standout performances from several Belton players who showcased their skills, heart, and hustle.
Raelynn Saldana was a force at the service line, delivering nine strong serves, including three aces, and racking up three impressive kills that helped keep Belton in the fight. Her power and consistency were key in high-pressure moments.
Ava Baggett stood out with her excellent court awareness and communication. Contributing two serves and handling several serve receive plays with poise, Ava helped set the tone for the team’s rhythm and flow throughout the match.
Stepping into a new role for the evening, Madison Lewis took on the responsibility of setter with confidence. She recorded five serves and added two crafty tips at the net, helping guide her team with smart decision-making and steady hands.
Soley Torres brought the energy all evening long, uplifting her teammates with her positive attitude and leadership. She also added five serves, including three aces, proving that her impact went beyond just morale—she backed it up with performance.
And anchoring the serving effort was Emily Potts, who delivered a game-high eleven serves and notched two aces. Her consistency kept South Belton on their heels and helped Belton stay competitive throughout the match.
Though the final set slipped away, the Belton Tigers showed grit, teamwork, and determination against a tough rival. With continued growth and effort like this, the future looks bright for the Belton Middle School volleyball squad.
8B: The 8th Grade B Volleyball Team faced off against rival South Belton Middle School at Belton High School. It was a competitive matchup filled with highs and lows, but in the end, our team fell in two sets.
The girls showed grit and determination, with strong stretches of play, but also struggled at times to get out of their own heads after mistakes. The coaching staff emphasized that learning to push through those tough moments will be key to continued growth moving forward.
There were several standout performances on the night. Jaylynne Prado delivered an impressive run at the service line, scoring points with 11 successful serves, most of them in a row. Kaitlyn Copeland also had a strong performance, stringing together multiple serves — including three aces. In the back row, Brylie Burr hustled after countless balls, digging up tough serves and keeping rallies alive with her effort and consistency.
Although the night ended in a loss, the team is continuing to learn, grow, and sharpen their skills. With hard work in practice, they’ll be ready to bounce back stronger in the matches ahead.
7A: The Belton Middle School 7th Grade Volleyball team secured a victory this week against their rivals, South Belton Middle School! While the team acknowledges they didn't play their crispest game, the final score was a win, demonstrating their ability to close out a match even when facing challenges on the court.
The true standout of the night was the dominant performance from Avery Mills. Avery was an absolute force at the service line, delivering a stunning 15 successful serves! Her consistent and powerful serving runs were critical in building and maintaining leads throughout the sets, proving to be a huge difference-maker in the victory.
Equally important to the team’s success was the steady presence of Lily Idoux. As a leader, Lily maintained a remarkable good leadership and positive attitude throughout the whole game. Even during tense moments and difficult rallies, she was actively encouraging her teammates, communicating clearly, and keeping the team's morale high. Her ability to keep the energy positive and focused was invaluable in steering the team to the win.
7B: The 7B Lady Tigers left little doubt in their rivalry matchup, as there was hardly a game to play with the way they dominated from start to finish. South struggled to return serves, often shanking balls out of bounds or falling victim to the relentless pace of Belton’s attack.
Emma Alvarez set the tone in the first set, putting on a serving clinic that left the crowd buzzing. She delivered 7 successful serves with 5 of them dropping as aces, keeping South completely off balance and unable to find a rhythm. Her confidence and precision were matched by her teammates’ hustle on the court, ensuring that momentum never left Belton’s side.
With every rally, the 7B squad showed crisp communication and strong fundamentals, proving that they are quickly becoming a powerhouse team. Their energy, teamwork, and sheer consistency made this game a showcase of what the future of Lady Tiger volleyball looks like.
