GIRLS BASKETBALL: BMS VS. SC LEE
8A: The BMS 8A girls basketball team battled through a tough matchup against SC Lee, falling 23-3, but the score does not reflect the heart and effort shown on the court. From start to finish, the girls played a physical game and refused to back down against the talented SC Lee team.
Despite the challenge, the Tigers matched SC Lee’s physicality and continued to compete with energy and toughness. They fought for rebounds and stayed engaged even when things did not go their way. The team’s willingness to keep playing hard and support one another was something to be proud of.
Soley Torres stood out with her aggressiveness and poise, doing a great job protecting the basketball against constant pressure.
Grace Thomas made a strong impact on the boards, battling inside and securing key rebounds against a physical opponent.
Ava Baggett showed toughness and selflessness by stepping in and being willing to take a charge, setting an example of effort and grit.
Emily Potts also played fearlessly, attacking plays and not shying away from contact throughout the game.
This game was a valuable experience for the group. Facing a strong opponent and continuing to compete builds resilience and prepares the team for future success. As the season progresses, the Tigers are focused on learning from each game and using those lessons to improve. The challenges faced against SC Lee will be addressed in practice this week, with an emphasis on making adjustments, sharpening fundamentals, and continuing to grow as a team. By applying game experiences to daily work, the BMS 8A girls are building the foundation for continued development and future success.
8B: The Lady Tigers 8th Grade B Team took the court against SC Lee Middle School and once again showed how much they have grown as a team. Although the final score did not go their way, the progress on display was undeniable and encouraging.
Offensively, the Lady Tigers made a strong step forward by scoring more points and playing with greater confidence. The team adjusted quickly throughout the game, responding to challenges with improved ball movement and smarter decision-making. Their ability to adapt showed a deeper understanding of the game and growing chemistry on the court.
Despite facing hardships during the matchup, the Lady Tigers demonstrated perseverance and resilience. They continued to hustle, communicate, and support one another, never allowing adversity to define their effort. This determination was evident on both ends of the floor as the team fought for every possession.
Lilian Perrine had an outstanding game, making her presence felt all over the court. She defended her player with intensity while also putting several points on the board for the Lady Tigers. Beyond her individual performance, Lilian stood out as a great teammate—constantly encouraging others and helping keep the team’s energy high.
Averi Lozano was also one to watch, making a big impact through her strong screens that created opportunities for her teammates. Her aggressive defense disrupted the opposing team and helped set the tone with her hustle and physical play.
Overall, the Lady Tigers played with confidence, effort, and heart. The girls “killed it” with their gameplay, showing just how far they’ve come and how much potential they have moving forward.
The growth continues, and the future is bright for the Lady Tigers. Keep up the great work!
7A: The 7th Grade Lady Tigers faced a challenging opponent last night, falling to SC Lee but the final score is only part of the story. While the loss was tough, the team walked away with valuable lessons that coaches and players agree will make them a much stronger unit moving forward. Sometimes, a difficult game can teach you more about grit and strategy than an easy victory ever could, and the Lady Tigers embraced that growth mindset.
Several players stood out with impressive performances.
Sophie Hughes was a force under the basket, demonstrating an unyielding effort with numerous crucial rebounds and contributing 4 points, including some excellent putbacks. Her hustle and determination were infectious.
Addison Webb also had a night defined by courage and tenacity. She consistently took on the challenge, unafraid to drive and attack, and added 4 points to the scoreboard.
Leading the charge, Emily Munoz showcased true leadership, not only guiding her teammates through plays but also leading the scoring with 6 points.
The team is already channeling the lessons learned from the SC Lee game into intense preparation for their next challenge. They are hitting the practice floor this week, ready to work on the adjustments needed to refine their strategy and execution. The Lady Tigers are energized and focused as they gear up to face the Lake Belton Middle School Broncos next. They are determined to take the experience gained from this tough contest and turn it into a winning performance.
7B: Belton 7B came out on fire tonight, claiming a dominant 30–10 win and setting the tone from the very first possession. The energy on the court was unmatched—every rebound, every steal, every fast break showed just how hard this group has been working.
Jaidenise Brown led the way with 8 impressive points, using her strength and focus to snag rebound after rebound. Her presence under the basket completely shifted the momentum, giving Belton second-chance opportunities and shutting down SC Lee’s attempts to get anything going inside.
Alivia Flores played with confidence and control, knocking down a clean jump shot and sinking two perfect free throws that brought the bench to life. Her ability to stay calm in pressure moments and make smart decisions helped Belton keep a steady lead throughout the game.
Gwen Taylor was everywhere—literally. Her defensive hustle was unmatched as she repeatedly stripped the ball, intercepted passes, and turned steals into offense. She raced down the court for two powerful, well-earned layups, sparking huge momentum shifts and keeping SC Lee on their heels the entire night. Her intensity set the tone for the whole team.
From start to finish, the girls played with grit, communication, and heart. They moved the ball with purpose, attacked the basket, and never let up defensively. The stands could feel their energy—this was a performance that showed their growth, resilience, and commitment to each other.
Final Score: Belton 30 – SC Lee 10. A dominating victory and a proud moment for our 7B squad.
