BELTON MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL VS. COPPERAS COVE

8A: The Belton Middle School 8A volleyball team continued its strong season with a 2-0 victory over Copperas Cove Junior High, winning 25-16 in the first set and 25-21 in the second. The team showed strong serving, attacking, blocking, and teamwork throughout the match to secure the win. One of the highlights of the match was the team’s ability to successfully use multiple serve-receive options within the same rotation. The athletes demonstrated a strong understanding of their responsibilities and adjusted well as needed, showing growth in communication, court awareness, and confidence in their systems. Avery Mills led the team from the service line with 13 serves and 5 aces while also contributing 2 blocks, 3 kills, and 10 assists. Her ability to contribute in multiple areas helped keep the offense moving and put pressure on Copperas Cove throughout the match. Ashlyn Briggs added 15 serves, including 4 aces, along with 3 blocks and 1 kill. Her serving helped Belton build momentum and create opportunities for the team. At the net, Aubrey Crayton recorded 8 kills, 1 block, 1 assist, and 1 diving save while also adding an ace on 3 serves. Sophie Hughes contributed 7 kills, 1 block, and 4 assists, providing another strong offensive presence for Belton. The 8A team continues to show growth and confidence as the season progresses. Their ability to adjust within their systems, communicate with one another, and contribute in multiple areas continues to strengthen the BMS volleyball program. The team will look to build on this performance as they continue through the season. 8B: Our team fell to Cove in a tough two-set match, 25-4, 25-16. The first set was a rough one for us as Cove jumped out to an early lead. Despite the difficult start, our team came back in the second set with more energy and determination. We fought harder, found some momentum, and put together a much stronger performance, but it wasn’t quite enough to overcome the deficit. There were several bright spots throughout the match. Rayne Meyer contributed 3 serves, while Elianna Kelley recorded 4 serves and an ace. Addison Webb had 3 serves and 2 aces, along with 3 serves and 2 tips. Rooklyn Whitmire added 1 serve, and Paiton Mapes contributed 2 serves and an ace. Although the final score wasn’t what we wanted, the team showed fight and improvement in the second set. We’ll take what we learned from this match, keep working, and come back ready for the next one! 7A: The Belton Middle School 7A volleyball team delivered a dominant performance against Copperas Cove Middle School, securing a thrilling two-set sweep powered by clutch offensive play and a record-shattering performance at the service line. The opening set tested the Tigers’ grit early. Facing a tough start, Belton stayed composed and rallied behind aggressive play at the net. Ashlyn Briggs served as the catalyst for the comeback, hammering down 5 crucial kills in the first set alone to shift momentum back to the Tigers. Briggs also contributed 6 successful serves, anchoring the line and helping her team battle through the rough start to claim the first set victory. Building on that momentum, Set 2 quickly turned into a masterclass in composure and precision, led by Vera Davies. Showing ultimate focus under pressure, Davies racked up an astounding 29 successful serves on the night. Her standout moment came in the second set, where she strung together an incredible 25 consecutive serves to close out the set and seal the match victory. In doing so, Davies set a new Belton Middle School record for the longest consecutive serving streak in a match. While Davies’ nerve of steel kept the pressure on Copperas Cove, the historic run was a true team achievement. The Tigers' defense stayed locked in, winning every point returned over the net to keep the streak alive and complete the sweep. Showing rapid growth and building chemistry with every rotation, the Tigers are hitting their stride at the right time. Belton Middle School now turns its focus toward its next matchup, where they will head to Belton High School to take on cross-town rival South Belton Middle School. 7B: The Belton Tigers volleyball team demonstrated fierce resilience in a high-intensity battle against Copperas Cove. Finding themselves in an early hole at the start of the first set, the Tigers refused to back down, anchoring their defense and steadily chipping away at the deficit. Driven by a string of blistering, hard-driven serves from Areanna Leza, Belton completely reset the tempo and brought the momentum right back to their side of the court. Though their heroic comeback effort fell just short before they could claim the set, the late-game rally sent a clear message that the Tigers were far from out of the fight. Carrying that spark into the second set, Belton hit the floor with a completely refreshed mindset and electric court energy. Every rally became a testament to their grit as the team matched Copperas Cove point-for-point in an exhaustive, back-and-forth dogfight. Addison Tibbetts kept constant pressure on the opposition's backline with a series of aggressive, tactical serves that repeatedly disrupted Copperas Cove’s offense and kept Belton right in the hunt. Even as the score pushed into extra points, the Tigers' refusal to give up turned the match into an absolute nail-biter. Both teams traded serves and passes all the way to a thrilling 26-28 finish. While Copperas Cove ultimately managed to squeeze out the final two points, Belton's unrelenting heart, relentless serve-receive, and unwavering teamwork throughout every tough stretch proved the true character of this Tiger squad.
