BMS VOLLEYBALL AT DISTRICT TOURNAMENT
CONGRATULATIONS to 8A on winning the District Championship! Congratulations to 8B and 7A for making it to the semi-finals! Congratulations to 7B for playing in the district tournament! This was a historical year for Belton Middle School as all four teams qualified for district!
8A: What a day for Belton Middle School Volleyball! The 8A Tigers battled their way through the District Tournament, winning every match and finishing with a statement victory over the first-place Lake Belton team to bring home the DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP!
The Tigers opened the tournament with a strong performance against Bonham, winning in two sets, 25-8 and 25-22. They carried that momentum into their second match against River Valley, earning another two-set victory, 25-15 and 25-17.
Then came the moment everyone had been working toward. Facing the first-place Lake Belton team in the championship, the Tigers rose to the occasion in a BIG way! Belton came out firing, dominating the first set 25-11 before closing out the championship with a 25-19 victory in the second set.
Throughout the tournament, these girls showed what happens when a team plays with confidence, composure, and trust in one another. They made smart plays, stayed focused under pressure, communicated with purpose, and competed together when it mattered most. They made good decisions, adjusted to the game, and believed in what they were capable of accomplishing.
THIS CHAMPIONSHIP BELONGS TO EVERYONE! Every player contributed to this team's success, and every practice, challenge, and moment of growth helped build the team that stood on top at the end of the day.
To the fans: WE HAVE THE BEST FANS! Thank you to every family member, supporter, and Tiger fan who showed up, cheered loud, and encouraged these girls throughout the season. Your energy and support mean more than you know, and you have been such a special part of this journey. Belton is fortunate to have a community that stands behind its athletes and its program!
While winning a championship is an incredible accomplishment, winning is not everything. The lessons learned, relationships built, confidence gained, and experience earned are what will continue to shape these girls as athletes and as people. This championship is a HUGE step in the right direction, and the growth these girls have shown throughout the season is something to celebrate. There is still so much to learn, and this experience will help prepare them for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
Coach Colburn is incredibly proud of this group. Watching these girls grow, trust one another, compete with confidence, and come together as a team has made this journey special. They have worked hard for this moment, and they deserve to celebrate what they have accomplished together. This is bigger than a trophy. It's a reflection of their growth, their commitment, and the team they have become.
This is a HUGE moment for Belton Middle School, and these Tigers have earned every bit of it. They represented their school, their teammates, and their program with pride.

7A: The 7A Tiger volleyball team delivered a standout performance at this past weekend’s district tournament, showcasing remarkable maturity, composure under pressure, and an elevated level of team unity. Across two demanding, three-set battles against tough competition, the Tigers demonstrated just how far they have transformed this season as both individual athletes and a cohesive unit.
The tournament opened with a high-intensity matchup against Midway. The Tigers set the tone early, taking the first set 25–18 with sharp execution and steady communication. After Midway answered back to secure the second set 18–25, the match came down to a close 3rd set. Exhibiting poise in a high-stakes environment, the Tigers held their focus and pulled out a gritty 15–13 victory to advance to the semifinals.
In the semifinal round, the Tigers faced Lake Belton Middle School in another fiercely contested battle. The Tigers captured a tight opening set 25–22 before Lake Belton responded to claim the second set 22–25. In the deciding third set, both teams traded points in a back-and-forth, with Lake Belton ultimately edging out the Tigers 12–15. Despite coming up just short, the Tigers fought through every rally and played with unyielding energy until the final whistle.
While the weekend did not yield a district title, the progress made by this group was unmistakable. The development in communication, situational execution, and selfless teamwork from the start of the season to now represents a night-and-day difference. The resilience and experience gained under pressure during this tournament will serve these players well in everything still to come.
Go Tigers!
7B: The #6 Belton Tigers saw their tournament run come to a hard-fought end, falling to the #3 Bonham Bulldogs in a high-octane District tournament matchup. Despite entering the contest as the underdogs, the Tigers brought non-stop energy from the opening whistle, chasing down every loose ball and making the higher-seeded Bulldogs earn every single point. The final scores—19–25 in the opening set and 20–25 in the second—hardly capture just how fiercely Belton contested every rotation on the floor.
Throughout both sets, the gym erupted during a series of electric, high-intensity rallies where Belton’s floor defense truly shined. The Tigers matched Bonham’s offensive power with relentless hustle, diving for digs and turning potential breakdown plays into thrilling counter-attacks. Even when Bonham attempted to pull away late in each set, Belton answered with clutch defensive stands that kept the pressure on the Bulldogs and had the crowd on its feet until the final whistle.
While the loss marks the end of their season, the Tigers finished their season with an unforgettable display of heart, toughness, and collective grit. They refused to back down against top-tier competition, setting a standard of resilience and pride that defined their entire year. Belton closes out the season with their heads held high, having proven that no seeding can measure the true fight inside this team. The Belton Tigers made history by all four teams making it to the district tournament. A season to never forget!
